This is my list of the biggest mistakes you can make when purchasing and using a Tracfone prepaid cell phone.

Do Not Buy a Tracfone without DMFL
The Tracfone Double Minutes for life will always get twice as many minutes as are listed on the Tracfone card. I do not recommend buying a Tracfone without DMFL. You are money ahead to purchase a phone with DMFL.

Both the Motorola W376 and Lg 225 come with DMFL

Adding minutes to a Tracfone without DMFL
If you use less than twenty minutes a month is it OK for you not to convert to a Tracfone with doubler. You will save as soon as you add your first card to your Tracfone with DMFL.

Not using Tracfone Bonus Codes
It is easy to add Tracfone Bonus codes or coupons. When you add a minute card to your phone you will receive between 20 and 300 minutes extra depending on the Promo code. The Bonus codes will always be 5 digit numbers. Here is an easy way to buy Tracfone Minutes and use Bonus Coupons.

Purchasing an Unlimited Doubler Card
I do not recommend buying an Unlimited Doubler card for your phone. You can usually purchase a phone with the DMFL installed for the same price as buying the DMFL card.

Buying $20 cards if you talk a lot.
With Tracfone your cost per minute is a lot less if you purchase the larger denomination Minute-cards. The least expensive Tracfone Minutes currently is the the $80 four hundred fifty minute card. This comes to 8.88 cents per minute if you have a Unlimited Doubler phone card.

Do Not Purchase Tracfone Extended Warranty

The Extended Warranty for your Tracfone costs $20 per year and is not a good value costs for the Extended warranty is a waste. I have had problems with a couple of phones that were refurbished. They were out of the thirty day warranty but Tracfone replaced them free of charge. The replacement phones are cheap enough that the warranty is not a good value.
