*Can I use my Tracfone Prepaid Wireless Phone for Net10 Service?
No, only Net 10 phones will accept Net10 Wireless phone cards. You might think that since Net 10 is owned by the same company (America Movil) as Tracfone Prepaid Wireless they would be interchangeable but they are not.

Can I use my Straight Talk Phone as a Modem?
What is the Connection linking Straight Talk, Net10, Verizon, Walmart, America Movil and Tracfone?
Straight Talk is a joint partnership between Tracfone, Walmart and Verizon. Tracfone is providing the cell phones, customer support and firmware (the proprietary software that manages the phones.) Verizon is supplying the Cell phone Tower network (one of the largest networks in the United States). Walmart is supplying the marketing muscle by selling the phones in over 3200 Walmarts in the US. There are some regions where the Verizon network does not work very well and the stores in those places will not be marketing Straight Talk phones.
The connection between Tracfone and Net10 is they are both operated by America Movil. They both utilize the same customer service. Tracfone and Net10 phones use the same software and they both sell GSM and CDMA phones. Straight Talk uses the same customer service as Net10 and Tracfone.
Straight Talk only uses the Verizon network whereas Net10 and Tracfone phones will roam on over thirty different cell phone networks. Since Straight Talk does not roam off the Verizon network and both Net10 and Tracfone do you should get better coverage and fewer dropped calls with Net10/Tracfone.
Walmart appears to be a principle in the Straight Talk business. Walmart sells Verizon, Net10, Tracfone, Straight Talk and other cell phones.

Straight Talk really takes the cake when it comes to prepaid wireless. The plans they offer and the coverage they provide really set them apart from the competition. I find it crazy that they can offer an unlimited everything plan for only $45. On top of it, it is actually one that provides service (good coverage and no dropped calls) and on top of it all, you don’t have some contract that bogs you down. With most companies you can have 1 or 2 of those things, but rarely to you get a complete package for soooooooo cheap. Let’s see who steps up to the plate to take on Straight Talk.
Great comparison of non-contract plans. I think you hit it on the head here, if you’re a medium level phone user (below 300 minutes a month) then the Net10 plans are the best value. The real bonuses with their plans are the very clear rates (10c per minute for all local, long distance or roaming calls and 5c per text) plus no hidden costs. Also if you’re worried about running out of minutes and losing your number, it shows your credit every time you turn on your phone. Its a really easy way to stay on top of your phone costs each month.
I purchased my Net10 phone and inital minutes at Best Buy, but I know they sell it as well at KMart, Target, and Office Max. Anywhere you decide to purchase it, Net10 is a great money saver and has better customer service and calling areas than many other companies out there. You can actually get a plan as low as $15 a month (I chose the $60/600M plan) and you get 300 minutes with activation. Texting is pretty inexpensive (.03 a text) and the TMobile powered network offers great coverage. True, the phone selection is limited and if you want to interent suf this isn’t the company for you, but the savings are huge. More than $60 a month I’m saving with one of their moderate plans lets me know I made the right choice to join Net10.
Hey there, thank you very much for your blog post. I read this post almost a month ago and then went out and bought the Samsung R451c and I am loving the phone and loving Net10 coverage even more! Not to mention the 10c a minute call rates for local, long distance and international calls… Thanks rick! and thanks Net10!!
To answer the question how much are net10 phones is a little silly. Like all phones and companies it varies, they have those on the low end at 20 and the higher end around 80 to 100. However when you do start out they do give you 300 minutes and 60 days free no variations there. Plus there flat 10 cent rate per minute (again no variation), net10 is a great prepaid option.
The net10 phones are super affordable. There are some pretty good phones and, for the price, you can’t go wrong. I mean, where else can you get a solid cell phone for $39.99 and then fund the plan for only $20 a month? What gets me the most is that the phones aren’t some no name brands, but the big brands, like Motorola, Samsung, and LG. Oh, and even though they are on TracFone, they use the Verizon network because of a deal that Verizon and Tracfone have worked out.
I like Net10. The rates are easy to understand. Their basic phone models are basically free as all Net10 phone comes with 300 min. upon activation. As a moderate user, I average $15 a month. So far, so good!
I love net10 and just entered this contest by making a video and jst being silly tale a look
